PRESS RELEASE
World dog day - October 10th, 2017
The meaning of the old and current relationship between HUMAN and DOG
The dog, unlike the other species of domestic animals, was and is the only species of animal that has entered - by its own action - in the life of man, without being domesticated - ancestral phenomenon spent along tens of thousands years ago, in order to consolidate a special relationship between two species with different behavior and intelligence.
The dog was not domesticated by man. The dog was in competition with the man in the making, and realizing that from the hunter man he can obtain food, he did not prefer to be in competition with the human species, he would rather be useful, so that from a new man- dog relationship, both sides will gain.
And so, the ancestral man has gotten the best signal that a prey or a predator is approaching his cave, a signal coming only from the dog, and for this kind of signal, the dog used to get rewards, such as food scraps from animals hunted by humans.
Thus, from a competition in territory for the same hunt, for the same catch, their relationship of competition became one of commensalism (consuming food from the same source) and cooperation (the dog follows the smell, and the man hunts with the weapons of the time: the spear, the bow, the stone and the sling, the trap, etc., tolerating the presence of the dog in the area of entrance to the human cave).
The distance between the man-tolerated dog - in the ancestral (the Upper Palaeolithic - about 25,000 BC) and the man's cave gradually reduced, so that ... the man began to caress the dog as a reward, then he even give it a name, then he even give him signs of execution, to finally allow him to sleep next to him - the man, near the fire and the safety from the vicissitudes of the times.
In conclusion:
These aspects have been taking place over the course of tens of thousands of years, and that is why today, the dog can not detach from the human species, just as the human species can not detach from the dog. Obviously, the purpose of such a relationship has known and still knows more and more communication hypostases, and the transition from the period in which the dog has been used by man(ancestral) until today - in the modern-industrialized age, leaves an ambiguous and bad space for the canine species ... but especially for the human species ... by the disregard and ingratitude of such relationships.
